Design and Build
The Huawei Freebuds 6i are available in Black, Purple, and White. Their design closely resembles the Freebuds 5i, featuring a glossy finish on the earbuds and a matte case. Despite the glossy surface, the earbuds are resistant to fingerprints and smudges. They come with:
- Short stems for a sleek look.
- Rubber tips in three sizes for a comfortable fit.
- Touch-sensitive sides for gesture controls, including volume adjustments and playback functions.
The case includes a USB-A to USB-C cable and a Quick Start Guide, making setup straightforward.
Connectivity and Pairing
Equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the Freebuds 6i can connect to two devices simultaneously, ensuring seamless transitions between devices like your laptop and phone. Pairing is hassle-free with the AI Life app, which can be downloaded directly from the Huawei AppGallery using a QR code provided in the box.

Battery Life and Charging
The Freebuds 6i feature a 510 mAh case battery, 25% larger than its predecessor, and 55 mAh batteries in each earbud. Huawei claims:
- Up to 8 hours of playback with ANC off.
- Up to 5 hours with ANC on.
Our testing revealed approximately 7 hours with ANC off and around 4 hours with ANC on. Including additional charges from the case, total usage extends to 32 hours with ANC off and 18 hours with ANC on, slightly below Huawei’s advertised figures.
Audio Quality and Noise Cancellation
The earbuds are powered by 11 mm quad-magnet dynamic drivers, which are Hi-Res certified and 50% more powerful than their predecessors. While the audio quality is clear and well-defined, particularly for voice calls, the bass response is modest, making them less ideal for bass-heavy genres.
The Freebuds 6i feature Dynamic ANC 3.0 with:
- Enhanced noise-filtering and a 3-mic system for effective noise reduction.
- Three manual modes: Noise Canceling, Off, and Awareness.
- Four noise-canceling settings: Cozy, General, Ultra, and Dynamic, with Dynamic mode providing adaptive cancellation.
- Awareness mode includes Voice Mode, which allows for conversation without overwhelming external sounds.
Final Thoughts
With an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance and a comfortable fit, the Freebuds 6i are an excellent choice for both everyday use and workouts. Priced at €99, they offer exceptional value, particularly when taking advantage of Huawei’s frequent promotions. Current offers also include discounts on additional wearables, enhancing the overall appeal of the Freebuds 6i.
